130 Dates with David Mitchell

A little while ago, I promised to dredge up all of the recording dates for Would I Lie to You? from old revisions of Wikipedia (initially placed there by the admins of the excellent, and now sadly defunct, That Mitchell and Webb Fansite, and later by some sad, lonely individual with far too much time on their hands) at some point and post them here. And that point is now.

Series 1

Thanks to some old LiveJournal entries, dug up by the excellent Tumblr page shut-up-posh-boy, we know the episode aired second was recorded on 23 March 2007, and the episode shown sixth on 4 April 2007; recording dates for the other four are not known. By-the-by: These episodes were filmed at the now defunct Fountain Studios in Wembley Park; the second series at BBC Television Centre; and the third series onward at Pinewood Studios, except for the sixteenth series which was done at Elstree.

These episodes were recorded in November and December 2007, but it turns out Wiki only had the recording order, not specific dates (show #2 was 19 November and show #5 was 3 December, but that's all I can glean from the Tumblr post linked to above):

An early list of the running order has the first and second episodes in broadcast order switched, but everything else as it ended up being, indicating a late change of mind as to which episode should go out first.

Note that on the date the Davis/Ryder/Amfo/Wehn episode was broadcast, Henning was then on Have I Got News for You immediately afterwards, and seemingly either no-one caught it or just didn't think it was a problem (although I suppose it does prove the running order is decided by the producers, not the BBC).

I don't have anything extra to add on the subject, but it seems worth noting that the Osman/Morgan/Reid/Cooper episode is the only one where the date the episode is being recorded on is expressly mentioned in the episode itself. (The return of episodes getting randomly held back till January is annoying, especially since they just showed repeats in its place, but may be related to the fact that Stacey Dooley, guest on one of the delayed episodes, was still in Strictly Come Dancing at the time and the BBC wanted to hold it back until afterwards in case it looked like they were promoting her or something.)
