The following were all genuinely posted on Twitter. Some are satirical; others are the genuine thoughts of Corbyn supporters. But can you sort the members of Momentum from those of Maomentum? Answers are to be found at the bottom of the page.
- In response to a poll showing that Corbyn had a 24% “favourable” rating to Theresa May’s 41%: “Considering how this illegal Tory Govt only won with 24% of electorate, this is very good news for Corbyn.”
- In response to another poll, this one showing the Conservatives with a 16-point lead: “Real Poll: Facebook: Theresa May 281k likes, Jeremy Corbyn 822k likes.”
- On the Sleaford and North Hykeham by-election result: “Things to remember about the Sleaford result. Less than one in five of the electorate voted Tory. 63% did not even vote.”
- “Last week we lost our deposit at Richmond Park but this week we kept it at Sleaford. Think what we can do in a year!”
- On 850,000 manufacturing jobs being reduced to 60,000 over the last three decades: “Let’s make Made in Britain great again!”
- “How can our poll ratings be at a record low when people are leaving the Communist party to join us?”
- On Labour’s current polling: “Labour don’t need to win overall % [of votes], just to win enough seats.”
- On the possibility of Labour winning the next election: “Definitely! Voting trends this year show us that people want big changes.”
- “From day one I believed it would take 2 yrs for message to get through, we are 18 months in.” “However I did not take into account a 2nd leadership challenge, that wasted at least 6 months, so one more year.”
- In response to a poll of the general public during the Labour leadership election, showing Owen Smith with 37% to Corbyn’s 22%: “Neutral is still beating Smith then?”
- Also in response to the same poll: “Yeah, but non-Labour voters are part of this, so who cares?”
- ALSO in response to the same poll: “He is leading Smith in CLP nominations. And they are actual, real people!”
- “Every story has their white-bearded hero. Gandalf, Dumbledore, we’ve got @jeremycorbyn.”
- Following “when did we condemn the bombings?”: “We condemn all bombings and we condemn both sides in the bombing – both those doing the bombing and those being bombed.”
- In response to yet another poll showing Corbyn behind: "I don't believe any of it! 2000 people? Which people!"
- "Corbyn is the most principled, kind, decent, humane politician in the western world. And all of that radiates in this [Andrew Marr] interview"
- "It's a great tribute to his leadership skills that Jeremy Corbyn moved so decisively to dismiss the policies he set out earlier today."
- "[Corbyn] is only the figurehead of a shapeshifting force of a million creative furies"
- About a poll Corbyn was behind on, again: "'Via Survation' - really? Where's the data for the survey? Or is it just #fakenews?"
- "Group of us from Hampstead going up to Copeland to tell voters about Jeremy's support for decommissioning nuclear plants and leaving NATO."
- "Corbyn handled abuse and insults with grace and won big! Tristram Hunt, who wanted to lead Labour (ha ha), ran when things got tough. Sad!"
- "So @TristramHuntMP is joining V&A as it's director. He will carry his elitist hatred of the poor to the new job!"
- "To save time I am today calling for the deselection of the next Labour MP for Stoke Central."
- "Credit where credits due, @jeremycorbyn forced a uturn in Labour policy within hours of it being announced"
- On the subject of Corbyn's 'Trump-style' relaunch: "'Copying Trump's playbook' is being used to imply Corbyn is going to be like Trump. Obviously he isn't, is he?"
