- The venue was a room in Broadcasting House. There was a big ISIHAC logo on the screen above the panellists with the backdrop of a red curtain (the same as the picture above, but without the 'shiny' effect on the letters), which combined with the room's existing colour scheme had the unintentional but interesting effect of making the whole thing look like the set for a non-broadcast TV pilot for a run on BBC Two in the House of Games slot.
- If you've heard either of the Live CDs, you will be delighted to know producer Jon Naismith's warm-up is more or less exactly the same over 25 years later.
- Jack's introduction originally covered pretty much everywhere in the South, and I think quite a few of the jokes were trimmed for the broadcast edit.
- The One Song to the Tune of Another round was cut entirely -- very surprisingly, since it was a very strong round -- so for the record, here's what they were:
- Vicki: "Psycho Killer" to the tune of "My Favourite Things"
- Henning: "Baby Got Back" to the tune of the German national anthem (Jon Naismith liked this so much he got Henning to do it again during the retakes just because he wanted to hear it again! Henning's singing remaining a running joke for the rest of the episode also arguably makes less sense without hearing the first time...)
- Tony: "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" to the tune of the William Tell Overture
- Marcus: "Sexual Healing" to the tune of The Muppet Show theme
- The overly complicated analogies also seem to have returned to introduce this round after an absence of some years.
- There was another cut round which started off as a spoof of Impossible, but then developed into a mash-up of assorted gameshow formats not unlike The Quiz of Quizzes. There was also a round of Letter Writing which didn't make the edit, but I can't remember who the subjects were now.
- There were a few Songstoppers cut as well; one I remember from Marcus and Vicki was: "Well, I woke up this morning..." and the punchline was something about checking Twitter and finding out they'd been cancelled.
- The retakes at the end were mostly links Jack Dee had fluffed (plus doing one or two of the Songstoppers again -- I remember they redid Marcus singing "Eleanor Rigby" again, but not the punchline). There was a lovely moment where Tony pointed out one he'd got wrong which Jon hadn't picked up on, leading to a brief round of ribbing for the "teacher's pet".
