That Letter, That Letter, and That Letter

In the Red Dwarf episode "Bodyswap", originally broadcast on BBC Two on 5 December 1989, Lister (who has temporarily swapped bodies with Rimmer) and Cat are playing a game of Scrabble:

CAT: Hey-hey-hey! I've got you now, buddy! [He holds up his letter rack.] J-O-Z-X-Y-Q-K.
LISTER: That's not a word!
CAT: It's a Cat word!
LISTER: "Jozxyqk"?
CAT: That's not how you pronounce it!
LISTER: What's it mean?
CAT: It's the sound you make when you get your sexual organs trapped in something. "Jozxyqk!"
LISTER: Is it in the dictionary?
CAT: Well, it could be. If you were reading in the nude and you closed the book too quick. [He mimes this.] "Jozxyqk!"

Six weeks later, the first 'proper' episode of The Simpsons, "Bart the Genius", is broadcast on FOX on 14 January 1990, and opens on Our Favourite Family playing a game of Scrabble:

MARGE: We could look this "id" thing up in the dictionary.
HOMER: We got one?
MARGE: I think it's under the short leg of the couch.
[Homer retrieves it, and hands it to Lisa.]
LISA: "Id". Along with the ego and the super-ego, one of the three components of the psyche.
HOMER: Get outta here!
BART: My turn! [He looks down at his letter rack.] "Kwyjibo". [He places the tiles down on the board.] K-W-Y-J-I-B-O. Twenty-two points. Plus, triple word score. Plus, fifty points for using all my letters. Game's over, I'm outta here!
HOMER: Wait a minute, you little cheater! You're not going anywhere until you tell me what a kwyjibo is.
BART: Kwyjibo. Uh... a big, dumb, balding, North American ape. With no chin.
MARGE: And a short temper.
HOMER: I'll show you a big, dumb, balding ape!
BART: Uh-oh. Kwyjibo on the loose!

Another six weeks later, and the Calvin and Hobbes strip originally printed in America on 28 February 1990 finds the boy and his tiger playing a game of Scrabble:

I know it's so common there's a trope for it, but isn't that still oddly sort of pleasing? (If you want to take things even further, three months later on 31 May this happens in the Seinfeld episode "The Stake Out".)
