"...Which is Definitely Going to Make the Edit"

The two episodes of I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue recorded at the Bath Forum that I was in the audience for were broadcast on 10 and 17 July, they're still up on BBC Sounds for a few weeks here, here's some stuff that didn't make the edit, and so on and so forth.

The main deletion from show 1 was a new round in tribute to the recently crowned King, "Coronation Chicken", where Jack would read out the name of a historical monarch and the panellists had to make chicken noises if they thought it was made-up. This didn't really work because firstly, it turns out Tony Hawks can't do a chicken impression at all, and secondly because it became apparent midway through the game that they also should have thought of a different sound for the panellists to make if they thought the name was real, and hence most of the round's humour came from it falling apart in real time (the highlight of which was Tony sarcastically noting the disadvantage he was at "in this game which is definitely going to make the edit").

There was also a round of Letter Writing between the leader of Bath Council and Emperor Claudius, likely cut because Rory and Marcus' impression of the latter would have got them cancelled.

Moving on to show 2, the power cut I mentioned in the first post came in about three lines into Jack Dee's introduction, and when the lights came back on they picked up from where he left off rather than starting from the top. Listening to it with this in mind, the editing on the intro does sound a little odd, as if it was harder to cut around than they thought.

A little oddly, they only used half of the Pick-up Song round (but they definitely used the strongest part); Rory's song was "Shotgun" and Tony's was the original French-language version of Charles Aznavour's "She" (which was pretty impressive and got a few "woo"s from the audience!) The huge round of laughter on Marcus and Pippa's duet of "Phantom" before the singing starts comes from Marcus' improvised Phantom mask (which basically amounted to sticking his hand over his face).

The unused back-up round of Sound Charades was Tony and Pippa performing "Tick Tick Boom" and Rory and Marcus enacting "Scarface"... further elaboration seems unnecessary.

During the retakes at the end of the show, there was a heckle for something that didn't make the edit from the "Random Reviews" round, which was Marcus suggesting one of the reviews was for a train service which, according to the audience member, is no longer running. It was a really quintessential Radio 4 moment. (A bit of physical comedy: Rory suggested a review describing something as old-fashioned was for Bath and cowered behind his arms in fear of the audience turning against him.)

The round of Songstoppers was originally in the first show and has been spliced into the second, replacing the round of Swanee-Kazoo (which was Rory and Marcus performing "Cinderella Rockerfella" and Tony and Pippa performing an actually very catchy rendition of "Old Macdonald Had a Farm"). One cut from that round I remember is:

TONY: "Ground control to Major Tom..."
PIPPA: "ELON SAYS IT'S GOING TO BLOW UP!"
