Have I Got Graphs for You

Have I Got News for You has now been running for 27 years, making it a panel show you can make some graphs from. So let's have a go.

First of all, every guest presenter ever (not including repeat appearances):

Next, all guest presenters sorted by occupation, including repeat appearances:

And finally, every MP who has ever appeared on the show sorted by how prolific they are (only includes appearances by sitting MPs, so does not count any appearances made after they were an MP, MSPs or MEPs):

There'll probably be some more of these at some point in the future. Heaven help us.

  1. Bonus points on the MPs list for only including appearances when they were Members at that time. Boris and Ken both take a hit on that regard. (Ken has the record for most appearances by a politician.) Gyles Brandreth is the most notable absentee from the list. David Steel and Neil Kinnock also lose one each. Not sure about anyone else, but there have been political guests who weren't MPs of course. Whatever happened to that real-life Tory Boy, Robert Reed?

I still keep a check on all the appearance records and milestones mentioned in the trivia track of the first DVD, just to see if any are broken. Oldest/youngest guest (on appearance), biggest gap between consecutive appearances (Joan Bakewell now has this), guests who are related, guests who have been married, etc. And how many are now dead. (Brucie was the 44th as far as I'm aware.)

    1. Reed was interviewed on BBC News a few years ago. I think he's now an estate agent.

    2. He'd be twice as old now as he was when he appeared. It's probably him who's behind this 'Moggmentum' lark.
